Did you know…

…that Hungary is the land of such world-famous composers as Bartók, Kodály, Liszt, Weiner or Kurtág?

…that the conductors Sir Georg Solti, George Szell, Fritz Reiner or Eugene Ormandy were all of Hungarian origin?

…that Budapest has over twenty-five theatres, 2 opera houses and a ballet institute?

…that Gustav Mahler was the music director of the Hungarian State Opera?

The Kodály method, -named after the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály- for teaching music to children is widely used.

Culture is an important part of our country. For Hungarians, music has always been the most efficient way of expressing themselves and ensuring their existence in our ever-changing world.

YFU Hungary celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. During this decade we have sent 600 students to various countries and hosted almost 100 students who learned Hungarian, strengthened their English or German language skills and mastered their chosen music instruments. We have a wide range of music schools that offer classes in piano, organ, the strings, the winds, percussion instruments, along with theory, folk music, conducting or music history.

Board and its Chairman as well as the Office that has a National Director and a Program Coordinator to make your year a memorable one run the Hungarian YFU. This team of dedicated volunteers will assist you in choosing the best classes through their personal experience, as many of them were exchange students themselves, too. We can find a personalized solution for your interests!

For more information on various music schools and specific music instruments, please do not hesitate to contact the Hungarian YFU directly.
